Work in the Outdoors

At Rock-N-Water our passion is to impact young people with the joy of God’s Living Word, so that they might come to know Jesus and pass on God’s love with excitement.

Our staff come to work at Rock-N-Water with the purpose of providing superb outdoor adventures in California, specifically for Christian groups. The Rock-N-Water staff use exploratory adventures to help build friendship and growth in young people. Specifically, our goal is to impact each youth with the love of Jesus Christ.

an outdoor adventure guide excited about his summer camp jobs at Rock-N-WaterWhile working towards this goal, our staff often have a great time themselves. For instance, staff get a chance to grow closer to God and grow as Christians. They may develop friendships, grow stronger muscles, and discover amazing tans. However, these other things are just a byproduct of a passion to be used by God in the lives of students. Do you have a passion to be used by God as a positive role model? Are you excited for adventures in the outdoors? Then Rock-N-Water may be the right place for you.

We are now accepting applications for the following camp counselor jobs and other areas:

For many years Rock-N-Water has been blessed with such amazing applications that we typically stop accepting application for the coming year by late January. Please see our how to apply page for specific details about applying for one of our christian camping jobs. And check out these interviews with staff to learn more about what working here is all about.

We also want you to be aware that our paid summer staff camp counselor program is highly impacted. Typically, only candidates with significant previous experience as whitewater rafting guides, and outdoor leadership training make it into a paid guide position their first year. You are of course welcome to apply for any position that excites you. However, your time, and your chance of success, might be better invested applying for our summer volunteer program.

The high quality of our camp programs are almost completely dependent on the amazing quality of the staff. Thank you for being excited about being a part of Rock-N-Water.

More about Rock-N-Water

We believe we should, “Love the Lord (our) God with all (our) heart, and with all (our) soul, and with all (our) mind,” and “The entire law is summed up in one command: Love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:37, Galatians 5:14. We know and recognize Jesus Christ is the eternal and only Son of God. He died on the cross as the perfect sacrifice, paying the penalty for all our sins, and then rose from the grave. It is through faith alone in Jesus Christ that we have received the free gift of salvation and eternal life. We are saved by grace, not works, “that no one should boast”. We trust the Bible is accurate, reliable, and the Word of God. (Luke 5:20-24; John 1:1-18; John 3:15-21; John 14:1-15; Ephesians 2; 1 John).

Our camp has two very different job opportunities available: Outdoor high adventure guides and living history field trip camp counselors.

Outdoor Adventure Camps

Our outdoor adventure camps are similar to a traditional resident camp, but with a significant focus on adventure travel. We thrive on getting youth outside and experiencing a full day of adventure. Adventures might include whitewater rafting, outdoor rock climbing (on real rocks), exploring river canyons, and backpacking through the mountains. These Christian summer camp jobs look like a combination of a typical camp counselor position merged together with a high adventure  guide position.

Living History Field Trips

We take the same high adventure focus of our summer camp season and then modify it into an age appropriate adventure field trip for elementary age students. Dressing up and pretending to live through the middle of historical events, enables our camp staff to help students and parents to not just learn about history, but to experience it first hand. These Christian camp jobs are a blend of a typical camp counselor combined together with a docent.
