An Incredible Canyon Hike

Canyoneering canyon hikes

Explore one of our astonishing canyons in California and discover adventure within the peace and beauty of God’s amazing creation. Students love to hike and swim through these deep canyons to find great adventures and isolated splendor on our canyoneering guided tours. These canyoneering trips are some of our guides absolute favorites!

With a significantly lower price tag than a day of white water rafting, many Christian youth pastors initially add in a day or two of canyoneering to their Christian camp to help keep their costs down on the first year. Only to come back with their kids begging for more canyoneering! We offer 5 unique canyoneering trips with varying levels of difficulty. Some canyons crystal clear pools to swim in and others waterfalls and underwater tunnels to explore!

About Rock-N-Water

Rock-N-Water is a group of Christians who want to impact campers of all ages with the joy of God’s Living Word. Our desire is that you might come to know the joy of our loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to pass on God’s love to others with excitement. We focus our programs on biblical principles, and use the help of nature, friendship, and adventurous outdoor challenges to develop eternal transformational change.

Located an hour East of Sacramento in the Sierra Nevada Foothills of California, our staff travel from across the United States to minister to your students. Cross trained as camp counselors, youth ministers, and high adventure guides, they positively transform the lives of youth and adults alike. Our staff savor the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus in your students’ lives.

Every Rock-N-Water trip is built around the idea that spending time in the outdoors, through fun and challenging adventures, is a great way to help youth and adults to experience real personal growth in their Christian faith. Each camp includes full action packed days of adventurous outdoor exploration with our summer counselors. And each adventure includes time intentionally set aside in the middle of each day to give you ample opportunity to just stop, and think, and pray. At night we gather together around the campfire for a time of worship and a more indepth biblical devotional.

My daughter Morgan went on a rock and water trip. She absolutely loved it! She is very athletic but said it was the most physically challenging trip of her life! She LOVED Eden, her guide. Eden was very knowledgeable and was a great group leader. I would definitely recommend this trip!

  7. Shauna Law

We had a great experience. Love bonding with my family and stretching ourselves physically. I was reminded that when we take risks and succeed, we build our risk taking muscles and are more likely to step out in faith in ways that make us uncomfortable. Thanks for a great weekend!

  8. Mike

We had an amazing experience. The kids bonded with the other kids at family camp. We were challenged by the activities. We were challenged to create new experiences and new ways to connect to God as a family. The food was great. Aaron and Rebecca and the staff blessed us tremendously. Thank you for the good times!

  13. Robert Peterson

It was very enjoyable. Our guides were really nice and the experience was great.

  14. Jen Tiffan

Great! The guides were very helpful and knowledgeable. Very encouraging and great with the kids! I would say for an adult preview day, it would be helpful to know a little bit more ahead of time. (With canyoneering, we didn’t know we would be in water as much as we would. Having a little more of a heads up on how long and difficulty level would be good). During the hike- I think you all could add in a little more when you set up the quiet time. Jason mentioned how the last time he was there God really spoke to him. He could share a little more. I think you could set the group up with a thought to ponder or some scripture during the quiet. Take advantage of the experience and tie it in to how it relates to God. An example could be- talking about how we are meant to get through life together just like we’ve had to help one another during this hike. Giving specific examples from what they are currently experiencing. Doesn’t need to be long or much but could really help new ideas stick. Another example could be how we’ve all fallen during canyoneering and there will be falls in life.

  15. Leah Starr

I had an amazing experience! The tour guides were very knowledgeable and experienced. The camp site was beautiful as well. I want to go back next summer!

  16. Mark Labins

I really enjoyed the canyoneering! The staff members were great to get to know. I’d love to go again.

  17. Chris Feigles

It was okay. I didn’t feel that the guides added much to the experience. We could have easily done it on our own.

  18. Tori McCool

It was top notch! All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Natasha and Stuart were especially kind and considerate.

  19. Amber Mathison

We had a great time! Denae hosted us and gave us a great welcome when we arrived! She gave us a tour and made sure that we had what we needed. We really appreciated this, as it was just my husband and I and we were not part of a larger group. We enjoyed the canyoneering day and had a great time with the group that we joined. When we got back, Denae invited us to join a campfire with the group we canyoneered with and it was a highlight of our time at Rock N Water! Thank you for the awesome experience! We hope to come back again.

  20. Alastair Mathison

Had a great time. Fantastic staff – Denay was great giving us all the info we needed and going the extra mile – really blessed my wife and I – a great day.

  21. Derek Bustos

Enjoyed the campsite and the rafting. Extremely enjoyed the Lady Bug Canyon hike. Food at camp was good but would have liked to have the option to cook my own.

Statement of Belief

We believe we should, "Love the Lord (our) God with all (our) heart, and with all (our) soul, and with all (our) mind," and "The entire law is summed up in one command: Love your neighbor as yourself." Matthew 22:37, Galatians 5:14. We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal and only Son of God. That He died on the cross as the perfect sacrifice, paying the penalty for all our sins, and then rose from the grave. It is through faith alone in Jesus Christ that we have received the free gift of salvation and eternal life. We are saved by grace, not works, “that no one should boast”. We believe the Bible is accurate, reliable, and the Word of God. (Luke 5:20-24; John 1:1-18; John 3:15-21; John 14:1-15; Ephesians 2; 1 John)

Who we are

We are a group of Christians who want to safely lead people into the wonder of God’s creation, challenging them through adventures designed to help them grow personally, relationally, and spiritually.   We focus our program on biblical principles, and we use the help of nature, friendship, and challenge to develop character.
