An unbeatable three week summer camp for teens going into 8th through 12th grade in the Fall, as well as those that just graduated.
Your expedition is waiting! Join us for three weeks of outdoor adventure and leadership training as we meet new friends, learn new skills, and discover more about ourselves and our loving savior Jesus Christ.
Get ready for 19 full days of outdoor adventure, combined with 21 nights of camping, food, and fun.
We start off the first week with a four day Backpacking trip through the Sierra Nevada Mountains. We’ll explore river canyons, climb rock walls, rappel down a 90 foot cliff, and circle around the campfire for songs and games under the starlit night. We’ll finish off the week with a paddle boarding adventure at Lake Tahoe, and a restful beach day for those needing a breather.
Adventures will continue as we crash through Class III whitewater on the South Fork of the American River, followed by a full day of outdoor rock climbing at a totally new location. Then we’ll cast off for an overnight two day Class IV river rafting adventure on the Middle Fork of the American River. Follow that up with a day of canyoneering, as we explore a local river canyon for underwater caves, rock jumps, natural beauty that few others experience. It might sound like the week is over, but we’ve still one one more day of Class III whitewater rafting. However this time we’re exchanging our large rafts for two person inflatable kayaks.
As we say goodbye to those that were only on the 2 week Voyager camp, we’ll be left with a smaller core of friends excited about not just doing these adventures, but even learning how to lead others on outdoor experiences. While the entire three weeks have a significant teaching and learning element throughout. The third week will see a significant uptick in the focus on practical hands on training.
The specific outline of these last 7 full days will vary from year to year (and even from session to session), as we optimize the adventures to best fit the specific students within each session. Typically this last week will include a day or more each of whitewater rafting, inflatable kayaking, canyoneering, and rock climbing. Plus a local community service project, where we’ll learn how serving others can also help us learn and grow as we give back to others in our community.
Why send my kid to camp?
Growth! Camp provides an opportunity for individuals young and old to get away from the constant distractions of everyday life. By breaking away from the routines, places, and things that we find familiar, we are better situated to discover new things about ourselves, our friends, and about what it means to be a Christian. Note: You don’t need to be a Christian to attend camp at Rock-N-Water.
Why an adventure camp?
Adventures in the outdoors provide a natural platform for helping to further shift campers out of their comfort zones, further away from the places and things that they are familiar with. Outdoor adventures provide countless opportunities for growth through the challenging and often temporarily uncomfortable situations we experience when we leave the protection of our everyday lives. Experiences like clinging to the side of a cliff, rushing uncontrollably into crashing white water rapids, and being amazed by discovering unexpected sights around every corner all serve to help shift campers out of their comfort zones, and into their growth zones – where the journey towards lasting personal growth and development really begins.
Who is Rock-N-Water?
Rock-N-Water is a group of Christians who want to impact young people with the joy of God’s Living Word, so they might come to know Jesus and pass on God’s love with excitement. We focus our program on biblical principles, and we use the help of nature, friendship, and challenge to develop character. We share about our love for Jesus Christ by sharing non-confrontational stories about the love that Jesus has for all humans, and by demonstrating that unconditional love to all campers, regardless of their spiritual beliefs. We believe we should, "Love the Lord (our) God with all (our) heart, and with all (our) soul, and with all (our) mind," and "The entire law is summed up in one command: Love your neighbor as yourself." Matthew 22:37, Galatians 5:14. We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal and only Son of God. That He died on the cross as the perfect sacrifice, paying the penalty for all our sins, and then rose from the grave. It is through faith alone in Jesus Christ that we have received the free gift of salvation and eternal life. We are saved by grace, not works, “that no one should boast”. We believe the Bible is accurate, reliable, and the Word of God. (Luke 5:20-24; John 1:1-18; John 3:15-21; John 14:1-15; Ephesians 2; 1 John)
