Work- Summer Employment

General Information | Ministry Philosophy | Spring | Summer | Guide School | How to Apply

There are 2 ways to start working at Rock-N-Water during the summer season (June through August). The best and smoothest method is to go through the volunteer program your first year with successful graduates returning following years as paid guides. The second method which is harder and more like a tornado, is to go through guide school, and seek employment with us as a paid guide. Either way, open positions fill quickly (often by late March) with priority given to letters of introduction mailed by January 1st.

Volunteer Program - A summer of servant hood will teach you about Rock-N-Water, Youth Ministry, and train you to become an outdoor adventure guide. (must be at least 16)

Paid Summer Staff - A summer's worth of information, concepts, and techniques taught to you through our 10 day guide school. (must be at least 18).

Volunteer Program

Sorry, but it is too late to apply for our 2010 Summer Volunteer Program. Please read on if you are interested in applying for 2011. Letters received by January 1st receive highest priority.

When: June through August

What: A small team of Volunteers is managed each summer by one of our directors or a senior guide.

Description: You will work long and hard, but very profitable and enjoyable days. The goals of the program are as follows:
To Serve campers and the community by building a team which significantly contributes to a camp atmosphere which is encouraging for staff, assist in the running of camp, and helps to provide a fantastic environment for campers.
To Grow volunteers emotionally, mentally, physically, spiritually, and socially in preparation for outdoor youth ministries
To Train volunteers in competence in leading rock climbing, white water rafting, team challenges, backpacking, group interactions, leadership, and performing camp duties.

Who: We look for people who love God, enjoy working hard, and want to give their summer to the campers. Must be at least 16 years old. (No pay, No cost. Food and tarp provided.)

To apply: Pray. Then, write us a "snail mail" letter of introduction telling us who you are and why you are interested. Include: address, phone#, birth date (if under 18), email address if you got one, and dates of your approximate availability this coming summer.

Paid Summer Guide

Rock-N-Water has been blessed again with a very high return of staff, and does not have any open positions available for new paid summer staff in 2010.

If you still want to serve here, please consider the Volunteer Program.

When: June through August

What: We look first to graduates from our last year's summer volunteer program, then we look to new applicants that have applied seeking work with us as a paid guide. These applicants will need to successfully complete our Guide School program.

Description: You will work long and hard, but very profitable and enjoyable days. As a paid guide at Rock-N-Water you will be directly interacting with the youth that come to our camp as you lead them through physical challenges (rafting, hiking, climbing...), mental challenges (team work, fears...), and spiritual challenges (camp fire program, solo time, you personally as a roll model...). You will also be responsible for some of the many other daily tasks required of the adventures we take (equipment, cooking, cleaning...). We run a Class III river, top-rope our climbers only, have a low element group building program and a 5 day backpacking program which is a combo of packing, climbing and rafting.

Who: We look for people who love God, enjoy working hard, and want to give their summer to the campers. For paid guide staff we are looking for spiritually, socially and technically mature people who are teachable, have a heart to infect youth with Christ's love and have an eye for fun. Must be at least 18 years old. ($64-$100+ per day. Food and tarp provided.)

To apply: Pray. Then, write us a "snail mail" letter of introduction telling us who you are and why you are interested. Include: address, phone#, birth date (if under 18), email address if you got one, and dates of your approximate availability this coming summer.
