Winter Retreats

Showshoe with your group to a remote cabin!

Welcome to the introductory year of Rock-N-Water's winter adventures! After 18 years of ministry, working with youth through summer adventures like whitewater rafting, backpacking, canyoneering, and rock climbing, we are excited to announce our newest adventure in the snow covered mountains of the sierras.

Travel up to the mountains for an isolated time together with your youth, our staff, and God. We will stay the 1st night at a local camp, then after a hearty breakfast we drive a little further up the mountain to our trail head. With your personal things on your back, it's a 2-4 mile beginners snow shoe hike through the snow to a remote yet modern cabin (the distance depends on your group's abilities and weather conditions).

At the cabin we have a restful lunch, drop our packs and explore the secluded snow covered trees, hills, and lakes. What exactly we do will depend upon your group's abilities and needs, but it might include: Snowshoe exploration, snow caving, capture the flag (snow ball fight style), quiet times alone in the woods, building snow candles, outdoor campfires in the snow...

Sunday morning is a time for more worship, devotions, and quiet times before we eat lunch and hit the trail to head back home.

Location: California Northern Sierra Nevada Mountains a little West of Donner Summit. 6400 feet above sea level, the Cabin overlooks one of two private lakes on 200 acres of beautiful land.

Cost: $186 per person for early booked weekend trips. Includes 2 nights, 5 meals, and snow shoes. Minimum of 10 people.

Times: Arrive 7 PM Day 1 (typically Friday) and Depart 3 PM Day 3 (typically Sunday) December through early March

Safety: The cabin is fully furnished, and while we'd like it to be more on the rustic side, having a Dryer and Hot Shower available for emergencies allows us to be more adventurous with time out in the snow. We also have access to a snow mobile and cell phone reception (for emergencies only).

Options: Add an extra night or two for more time together away from the hustle and bustle of daily life... OR Plan to arrive by 2 PM and we could hike in on the 1st day, giving us more time alone in the woods!
