Answers to some questions
What if it rains?
Some of our best trips have been wet ones. Please plan on rain by
having waterproof tents and jackets on hand as we will have 49er fun
rain or shine. We have numerous covered areas under which we can find
refuge for most of our activities, but plan on being in the elements
throughout your stay.
As a side note, we are aware that in general parents are becoming
more protective and less interested in seeing their children experience
the outdoors. We believe it is critically important that students
experience what God has made first hand.
" For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities-his
eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood
from what has been made, so that men are without excuse." Romans
1:20 NIV
Should
we bring extra food?
Aside from the first lunch (for which you bring a sack lunch and
wait to eat it with us) we provide all the food. If you do bring any
snacks for the car ride, please leave them in the vehicle for the
ride home.
However - If some of your group has food allergies or dietary needs,
please let us know in advance so that we can make arrangements as
needed.
The Parents at home will want status updates every 2 hours!
You might want to let your parents know that you will be out of touch
with the "real" world for the duration of this trip and
that “no news is good news”. Not only do half the cell
phones not work around here (yah!), but we really hope all of our
participants will forget about phones for the short time they are
with us in 1854. As a teacher, our camp phone is available to you
when necessary.
Important Messages can be left at the office number
(530-621-3918), but we can't guarantee how long it will be before
we are able to find the individual the message was intended for.
Shopping for Trinkets.
We have avoided having a store in camp, and its potential profit,
so that our guests can escape the everyday tendency to purchase and
the common misconception that good times must be remembered via store
bought keep sakes. While there is a store located at James Marshal
Park, we avoid it while touring the park for these same reasons and
for the logistical difficulties/bad experiences that it can cause.
It is possible for drivers to return to the park store on their way
home.
How
can I get a Free Rock-N-Water T-Shirt?
