Realizing God Through Adventures in His Creation

Who We Are

Rock-N-Water is a group of Christians who want to impact young people with the joy of God's Living Word, so they might come to know Jesus and pass on God's love with excitement. We focus our program on biblical principals, and we use the help of nature, friendship, and challenge to develop character.

Our staff are highly committed Christians with excellent outdoor leadership skills carrying out their own individual ministries as adventure guides or living history guides; they feel personally responsibility for each individual they lead. Your students' safety, spiritual growth, learning and adventurous fun are our staff's fulfillment; they saver the opportunity to be one of Jesus' tools in your students' lives.

One of Our Greatest Passions

We see the outdoors as a critically important tool for today's Christian leader. At Rock-N-Water we spend every day and night in God's enticing playground. The adventurous challenges and tranquil beauty God gave us in nature allow for a depth of ministry we know no other way of achieving. Christian led excursions in creation make the opportunities for fun, deeper relationships, and spiritual growth almost unavoidable.

Today's students are growing up indoors. Never before has humanity been so protected and distracted from the natural world God made, its wonders, challenges, adventures, and intrigues. Never before have young people been so “connected” to each other yet so lonely. And there are valid concerns for the spiritual growth of those who rarely, if ever, have meaningful encounters with God while in the outdoors. Our students have new, serious needs that, for the most part, are going unaddressed.

Originally we were designed to live in nature, learning about God through His creations, learning about ourselves and others by having to work together. But our latest generations are left standing with unnatural gaps. Mentally, physically, socially and spiritually; nature was intended to be a part of our development.

Although there is nothing wrong with most of the ways students are being protected and distracted from experiencing God in creation, we think most of us are missing out on this foundational aspect of our relationship with Him. We believe that the Creator is revealed through His creations which include the natural world.“For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made...” (Romans 1:20 NASB).

Spending time in nature is no longer happening naturally, and the impact is effecting the growth process of our youth in critically important ways. As the awareness of these developmental needs is increasing, youth pastors, teachers, directors of christian camps, and parents are demanding ways of implementing God's creation into the lives of those they are responsible for. Outdoor education and adventure programs are valuable tools to help Christian leaders face this new and increasing challenge. And, in the presence of these needs, Rock-N-Water is committed to being an excellent, relevant, and outrageously fun source to turn to.

Statement of Belief

We believe we should, "Love the Lord (our) God with all (our) heart, and with all (our) soul, and with all (our) mind," and "The entire law is summed up in one command: Love your neighbor as yourself." Matthew 22:37, Galatians 5:14. We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal and only Son of God. That He died on the cross as the perfect sacrifice, paying the penalty for all our sins, and then rose from the grave. It is through faith alone in Jesus Christ that we have received the free gift of salvation and eternal life. We are saved by grace, not works, “that no one should boast”. We believe the Bible is accurate, reliable, and the Word of God. (Luke 5:20-24; John 1:1-18; John 3:15-21; John 14:1-15; Ephesians 2; 1 John)

Where We Are

Our basecamp is located in Northern California (Lotus/Coloma) between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe on the South Fork of the American River. Although we do have showers and flush toilets, our location is rustic. We eat, sleep, and play outdoors and wouldn't have it any other way. Many of our adventures are carried out off campus within a one hour drive.
